#28-The UK, Alsace, Annecy and Bach
I've lost track of the last few months: 15 days in the UK in August, then 10 days in early September in Alsace, including a week for my exhibition at the Carrefour Européen, where I met up with several of my artist friends, followed by a visit to friends near Annecy. Below are a few photos from the highlights of the last 2 months.
Je perds le fil de ces derniers mois: 15 jours en GB en août puis 10 jours début septembre en Alsace, dont une semaine pour mon exposition au Carrefour Européen, où j’ai retrouvé plusieurs de mes amies artistes, semaine suivie d’ une visite à des amis près d’Annecy. Ci dessous quelques photos des moments forts de ces 2 derniers mois.
Stonehenge, Strattford upon Avon, Coventry cathedrals (the old one bombed during WW2 and the stained glass of the modern one), my friend Alexandra Kingswell’s exhibit in the cathedral, York cathedral and a street in Edinburgh.

The exhibition at Ste Marie was a great success, with many exchanges with the public and a host of compliments.
L’exposition à Ste Marie a été très fructueuse, j’ai eu de nombreux échanges avec le public et une foule de compliments.
More than twenty paintings depicting rivers and oceans in the St Louis church in Sainte Marie aux Mines. And my painting “Hiver sibérien” exhibited with some thirty international artists in the SAQA “Wide Horizons” exhibition.
Plus d’une vingtaine de tableaux représentant les fleuves et l’océan dans l’église St Louis de Sainte Marie aux Mines. Et mon tableau “Hiver sibérien” exposé avec la trentaine d’artistes internationales dans l’exposition SAQA “Wide Horizons”.
So I've seen very little of the studio this summer, and the work has suffered as a result. But I've been there for several hours a day since my return, and I intend to concentrate on my new series this winter.
L’atelier m’a donc vue très peu cet été, et le travail s’en ressent. Mais j’y suis plusieurs heures par jour depuis mon retour, et j’ai bien l’intention de me concentrer sur ma nouvelle série cet hiver.
First, I sewed a cuddly rug/blanket for my little nephew Romeo, who was recently born in Italy.
J’ai d’abord cousu un tapis d’éveil/ couverture douillette pour mon petit neveu Romeo, qui vient de naître en Italie.
Les voiles rouges (the red Sails), 45 x 79 cm/
I was missing a few paintings for the exhibition, and I had this scrap-dyed fabric. I managed to quilt it to give the impression of a regatta, and all I had to do was add a little red to bring out the sails on the boats.
Il me manquait quelques tableaux pour l’exposition, et j ’avais ce tissu teint par la méthode “scraping” (impression par badigeonnage). J’ai réussi à le quilter en donnant l’impression d’une régate et il m’a suffi d’ajouter un peu de rouge pour faire ressortir les voiles des bateaux.
Les vagues (the Waves ) 30 x 24 cm / 12” x 10”
Since last year, I've also had this fabric created using the breakdown printing method. After quilting, it made a good maritime scene, and I stretched it on a frame.
J’avais également depuis l’an dernier ce tissu créé avec la méthode du breakdown printing. Après matelassage, il faisait une bonne scène maritime, et je l’ai tendu sur un chassis.

And here's the start of the first variation. Faster, more colorful. I need to find a common thread from the opening aria to the last variation.
Et voici le début de la première variation. Plus rapide, plus colorée. Il me faut trouver un fil conducteur qui ira de l’aria du début à la dernière variation.
