Time of lock down, 2020, 42” x 32”

This quilt was started at the beginning of the Corona lock down: I live in the center of a city and we were not allowed to go out. No link to the outside world, no need to say time seemed substantially long. These clocks materialize this subjective approach to time, when it is completely disrupted and out of control. However the yellows (light) do give the feeling of a positive outcome of the crisis.

It was published in the French magazine “Les nouvelles du patchwork” in the June 2021 issue, and also featured in the winter 2021 issue of the SAQA journal

Temps de confinement, 2020, 105 x 80

J’ai commencé ce quilt au début de la crise du coronavirus et donc du confinement. J’habite au centre ville et nous n’avions plus de contact direct avec le monde extérieur. Inutile de dire combien l’appréciation du temps a changé. Ces horloges sont la matérialisation de cette subjectivité, du moment où la perception du temps est passée hors contrôle. Les jaunes sont malgré tout le signe positif de la prochaine sortie de crise.
